From Puglia to Cyprus
Lecce’s Theatre Excellence Meets Rialto Theatre Through Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs

A new cultural and entrepreneurial bridge is being created between Italy and Cyprus through the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme, with the support of CSCS as intermediary organisation in Italy.

At the centre of this exchange is Simone Miglietta, a young theatre producer and actor from Lecce, whose professional path combines artistic research, civic engagement, and sustainable cultural production. Through the EYE programme, Simone will carry out an entrepreneurial exchange at Rialto Theatre in Limassol, one of the most important cultural organisations in Cyprus.

This experience will allow him to strengthen his managerial skills, expand his international network, and explore new approaches to cultural entrepreneurship in the performing arts sector.

A European Exchange for Cultural Entrepreneurship

Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs offers new and aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn directly from experienced host entrepreneurs in another participating country. For Simone, this means entering the daily work of an established cultural institution and observing how artistic vision can be combined with effective organisational management.

During the mobility, Simone will work alongside Alexis Vassiliou, Artistic Director of Rialto Theatre. The exchange will focus on key areas such as festival coordination, artistic programming, logistics, management of guest companies, cultural marketing, and the operational supervision of artistic seasons.

These competences are particularly relevant for entrepreneurs working in the cultural and creative sectors, where artistic quality must be supported by sustainable production models and strong international partnerships.

Rialto Theatre: A Reference Point in Cyprus

Based in Limassol, Rialto Theatre is a non-profit cultural organisation that has played a central role in the artistic life of Cyprus since its reopening in 1999. Located in Heroes’ Square, the theatre hosts and produces a wide range of cultural activities, including theatre, dance, cinema, music, international festivals, and educational programmes.

Its mission is strongly connected to accessibility, inclusion, and the promotion of emerging talent. Over the years, Rialto Theatre has become a recognised platform for dialogue between the local and international cultural scenes.

For Simone, learning from such an organisation represents a valuable opportunity to understand how a cultural institution can contribute not only to artistic production, but also to the development of a wider cultural district and community.

From Local Experience to European Perspective

Simone Miglietta’s work is rooted in the theatre scene of Lecce and focuses on new dramaturgy and civic theatre, with particular attention to schools and young audiences. His approach seeks to combine artistic rigour with productive sustainability.

The experience in Cyprus will allow him to compare different cultural systems, explore practices in human resource management and cross-border distribution, and reflect on the legislative and organisational frameworks that shape the performing arts sector in Italy and Cyprus.

By bringing this knowledge back to Puglia, Simone aims to strengthen his own entrepreneurial project and contribute to the development of new cultural collaborations across the Mediterranean.

Building Long-Term Connections

Beyond the immediate learning experience, the exchange aims to create lasting professional relationships between Italy and Cyprus. It opens the possibility for future collaborations involving cultural organisations, artists, festivals, and creative professionals from both countries.

This is one of the key strengths of Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs: the programme does not only support individual business development, but also encourages international cooperation, innovation, and the creation of sustainable networks.

CSCS Supporting Young Entrepreneurs in Europe

The exchange is supported by Centro Studi Cultura Sviluppo – CSCS in Italy and DekaPlus in Cyprus as intermediary organisations within the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme.

Through its role, CSCS supports new entrepreneurs in accessing international mobility opportunities, connecting with suitable host entrepreneurs, and making the most of their exchange experience.

Simone Miglietta’s mobility shows how Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs can support professionals from diverse sectors, including culture and the performing arts. It also highlights how entrepreneurship can become a powerful tool for artistic exchange, territorial development, and European cooperation.

From Puglia to Cyprus, this experience reflects the value of learning across borders and building new opportunities through culture, creativity, and entrepreneurship.
